Welcome To Champions Choice Boxing

I'd like to take this opportunity to welcome you to this web site and let you know a little about me, and why I developed this site. My name is Mike Kilmer. I was born and raised in Long Beach, California which is part Los Angeles County area and presently live in South Dakota for the last 46 years. I am the the Vice Chairman for the South Dakota Athletic Commission. I have a devoted interest in the sport of Boxing and MMA. I ran my gym, Champions Choice Boxing until about 2005 at which time my son took over the business. I am currently still the South Dakota USA Boxing LBC President and have been for 20 plus years. I was the Regional Coordinator, both Junior and Senior, for the WYOMONDAK Region that include 4 states, South Dakota, Wyoming, Montana and North Dakota. The Champions Choice Boxing gym still resides in Spearfish, South Dakota and successfully run by Stoney Kilmer, His accomplishment after taking over the helm has been extremely success in help to develop many your boxers. I believe that anyone can learn to Box, but even more important I believe that the sport of boxing can greatly help in the developing strong, well-adjusted youth both young men and women with strong morals and values.

My two sons who competed in the amateur divisions and both put in numerous hours to give back to the sport they dearly loved. I hope this site will continue to improve the levels of communication for other athletes and coaches, so they may be informed of what is going on the in world of amateur and professional boxing. I would like to take just a moment to give credit and express my admiration to a few individuals whom have helped me over the years and continue to be my greatest friends.

First of all, I would like to thank my wife, without whose help I would not have been able to achieve any of my goals. She not only can fill the place of me as a coach but does all the things that I just can’t seem to get done.

Kenny Weldon is probably been more influential and given me more knowledge into the Sweet Science of boxing. With his abilities to teach both athletes and coaches and
making them understand the simplicities and correct techniques of both defense and aggression. I will always continue to learn from him and will know that the sweet science is to be able to hit your opponent from the farthest distance away with maximum leverage without being hit.

Thanks so very much Kenny Weldon.

Most of all I would like to thank both my sons, Stoney and Chet, whom have always been there to help me and continue to give back in any way they can. They have both inherited the values of giving to others in any way that they can. Thanks guys you are the best.
